I think these sessions produced extraordinarily beautiful and unique images of Marilyn. The Last Sitting is the title of a book and photo series of Marilyn Monroe by photographer Bert Stern. The photo shoot was commissioned by Vogue magazine in late June 1962, taking place over three daily sessions, just six weeks before she died...

Thank you for stopping by this week and have a wonderful weekend my Dear Friend.
WEEKEND GORGEOUSNESS:
Beyond beautiful editorial from Mario Sierra + a very seductive and sophisticated chocolate line. Chic winter look & pretty details from Fabio Bartelt photographer. A DIY decor idea I just simply adore + a glamorous post which will just set you in a perfect weekend mood.

These pictures are incredibly beautiful,

Thanks so much for sharing!
Have an amazing day, sweet Evi,

Oh,yes...that's SO fascinated touching,dearest Evi...
These photos makes my realy sad, because you can seing how sad is Marylin here.
Just gorgeous photos,fabulous ART work!
Wish you too lovely weekend,my dear friend:-)*
Hugs and much Love to you,
***Violetta***
HI Evi, I agree with you that these shots are beautiful! I love the shape created by her dress. Sad to think that she died soon after. Thx for sharing and have a lovely weekend! Wini xo
Yes I agree, it's so sad and dramatic. If you take a look at the other type of shots in this series you can see that, something is so different on Marilyn's face...it's not aging, it's something beyond that...it's like she's already gone..
Oh Evi these photos are absolutely stunning! Thank you so much for sharing them. I've never seen them before.
Hope you have a lovely weekend! xoxo
I'm going to have to disagree here, I don't see sadness in Marilyn at all. In these photos I see a thoughtful and strong mature woman who is tired of the bullsh*t and just about ready to speak up about it. Too bad she was silenced before she had the chance. Take another look.
Thanks so much for posting these Evi. Have a great weekend. xo d
so beautiful <3
Evi! Such stunning photos but also a bit sad, wouldn't you say? It's like you can feel the sorrow inside of her... I have to share this link with my sister as we were just reading her secret diaries in the November Vanity Fair issue and she'd love to see these beautiful images. Thank you for sharing. xx

Gorgeous
I love you my darling♥
DEAR DIANE: I'm not sure which one of us you disagree with. I mean the whole story is sad, not her...I think you must take a look at the other images from this series /which I haven't presented in this post/ than maybe you'll understand me more. I personally don't need to take another look, I spent days researching on this subject and had thousands of thoughts and emotions about it...
How beautiful!
Evi, I stand corrected, and hope I wasn't out of line here. It's just that I do get a little tired of hearing about the sadness surrounding Marilyn. I have just about every book on her, including one in her own words. I'm not saying that you do this, but when I hear other people constantly saying "sad Marilyn" I think that they are stripping her of the credit she deserves and the strength that she had. It is true that she notoriously self medicated, but that was just a fraction of who she was. That is all I meant and I hope that I do not offend with my comment, as I have only the greatest amount of respect for you. xo d
These are gorgeous. I don't think I've seen them before. Thanks for sharing.
xoxo
Seriously, how could a woman be SO beautiful and breathtaking?
Happy weekend, Evi!
wow, exquisite! She appears very delicate in some of these
Such fabulous photos......and have never seen these before. I am not sure I could speculate if she is looking sad or happy but I do think she looks incredibly beautiful...........maybe thoughtful? XO

it is such a shame that she was at her very best - her most beautiful,
right before her death.
i still think she was 'offed.'
There's something about that first shot that seems fortelling...these images are so beautiful and that dress is incredible. She had such a profound effect on me growing up, I was obsessed with her. xo
Hi Eve,
The photographs of Marilyn are incredibly beautiful and I have not seen these before ~ thanks for showing us.
I hope that you are having a fabulous weekend, dear friend.
Hugs
Carolyn
Lovely. And haunting knowing that in just a short time she would no longer be here. Hope you're having a lovely weekend too, sweets! xo
Wow Evi, she looks absolutely stunning in these photos like wooooow!
Oh Evi, these are beautifully sad. So much melancholy in her deep eyes, so very palpable in all those images, particularly the first...
Such a bittersweet nostalgia my dear friend.;)
xoxo
Dear DIANE,
You are not out of the line and I love when someone has a different opinion /do I? :-)/. I love your comments, cause they are so funny and sharp...maybe I was a little bit out of line with my response and I'm sorry if I was rude. I only wanted to have a nice weekend post about Marilyn and well, if I would share any other images of her /you know those very glamorous ones she usually had/ there would be no place for the word "sadness"...but "The Last Sitting"...well I think it's kind of sad or at least bittersweet...and not because she looks sad on the pictures but because of the whole story behind it...I guess that is what everybody meant here when they mentioned "sad". I love these images of her cause they are so different than the others and besides the diva you can see the real person as well...I'm also happy to present these images on AL because they aren't known so well and at least I can give something "new" to my readers...I also think that beside the many glamorous and cheerful posts sometimes it's ok to post about something gloomy, not so cheerful - about something what makes people think...or wonder.
I understand your irritation about the "sad Marilyn" thing and I think it's pretty amazing "she" can still get us into this little "cat fight" :-)
I hope your weekend is lovely and I hope there is nothing bittersweet between us...and I do appreciate your very graceful second comment /as well/. Thanks a lot.
Much love to you all: Evi
Wow Evi, I think we just got to know each other a whole lot better. I adore you (in a "sisterhood" kind of way). Enjoy your Sunday dear girl. xo d
Stunning.. xoxo
That look seems so unlike her. I LOVE it!
These are fascinating and so stunning! Thanks for sharing such gorgeousness:-). Happy Sunday to you!
These are beyond gorgeous. I love how her natural beauty and charm was captured in these shots... and how candid these photos seem to be. Thanks for sharing!
Such beautiful photos of her. I just got the most amazing book from my bf. It's called fragments- poems and letter by Marilyn Monroe. I really recommend it.
x
She is stunning here, truly... her fate was sad, for certain, but these images prove that she was such a passionate and beautiful person. I am so glad that you shared them -- though she is not living, one can still appreciate her for years and years :)
I hope your weekend was a lovely one, my friend -- thank you so so much for the link to my post -- you are such a sweet friend, truly...
xoxo
Lovely pics. Thanks, Evi!
It's weird, I've only ever seen the sheer scarf + naked slightly tipsy Marilyn from the last sitting with bert stern and she seemed sort of happy in those. I haven't ever seen these and they sort of blow me away. That photo of her looking down looks so much like my mother, it's sort of eerie.
Well thank you for your very sweet and kind comment on my blog Evi. Of course I would love to have you photograph for me--when are you coming to California??
Sending you lots of love and sparkling wishes for the new week!
xo Mary Jo
Just beautiful!
